DOE Announces $431 Million in Block Grants, Holds Back $110 Million

As part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), Congress authorized and appropriated $550 million for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program (CFDA 81.128), which was last funded in fiscal year (FY) 2009.

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced a Notice of Intent (NOI) to issue application materials and released draft allocations to states, local governments, and tribes totaling $431.2 million. The NOI states that DOE intends to withhold $110 million for administration and technical assistance. An additional $8.8 million is for competitive grants, as required by statute.
