 Summary 

Many states receive a share of revenues from the production of oil, gas, mineral, and renewable energy resources on federal lands. The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced $4.36 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2022 payments to states, a nearly 100% increase from the prior year. New Mexico received the greatest share of total payments (63%), followed by Wyoming (18%). Eighteen states received no payment.
