HHS Releases $4.5 Billion in Initial FY 2023 LIHEAP Funds

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released $4.5 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2023 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) block grant funds. These initial awards include $3.4 billion under the continuing resolution (CR), which is 90% of LIHEAP’s annualized base funding, plus $1 billion in emergency supplemental funding appropriated in the CR and an additional $100 million appropriated in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
