Programs Supporting Older Americans Reauthorized, Receive Pandemic Funding
The Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020 (P.L. 116-131) was signed into law on March 25, 2020. The law reauthorizes and updates nutrition and social service programs established in the Older Americans Act (OAA). In addition to programmatic updates, the law changes the hold-harmless provision covering state grant programs and phases it out over 10 years. This brief summarizes the reauthorization and notes supplemental funding for some OAA programs in recent COVID-19 response measures.
