 Summary 

Congress provided more than $3 billion in each of fiscal years (FYs) 2018 and 2019 for programs that can be used for school safety. Funding comes primarily from the departments of education (ED), health and human services (HHS), justice (DOJ), and homeland security (DHS). This Issue Brief provides an overview of federal school safety grant funding and other assistance in recent years.
