Budget Brief 22-02
March 21, 2022
Summary

Almost halfway through the fiscal year (FY), the FY 2022 federal budget process has concluded with enactment of an omnibus appropriations bill (P.L. 117-103). For the Department of Education (ED) and Department of Labor (DOL), the adopted budget hews fairly closely to the FY 2021 enacted budget, albeit with funding increases. It does not incorporate wide-ranging changes that were part of the president’s proposal for the fiscal year.

This brief highlights FY 2022 education and labor appropriations in the bill and compares them to FY 2021 enacted spending. In addition to the appropriations bill itself, this brief incorporates provisions in the accompanying explanatory statement (part 1 and part 2), as well as relevant provisions in the House committee report (which must be complied with unless specifically addressed to the contrary).
