Summary 

Fiscal year (FY) 2022 appropriations were signed into law on March 15, 2022. This report describes funding and policy provisions in the budget affecting health programs, which were part of the Labor/Health and Human Services (HHS)/Education portion of the appropriations law, as well as Division P addressing health provisions. A subsequent report will address human services programs. The budget:

  • Provides level or increased funding for most programs covered in this brief
  • Funds a few new public health programs
  • Authorizes new grant programs to improve maternal health, beginning in FY 2023
  • Extends certain Medicaid and health provisions
