Documents circulated by the House Budget Committee and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) list mandatory spending reduction options for consideration as part of the reconciliation process currently underway. This issue brief summarizes proposals in those documents that target nutrition programs of relevance to states, specifically the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and child nutrition programs. Projected 10-year savings from all the nutrition proposals is $325 billion (see tables). The documents do not address non-federal costs.
