Summary
On July 29, 2009, the Department of Education (ED) published a proposed notice in the Federal Register that specifies the federal requirements, definitions, and selection criteria for the Race to the Top Fund (CFDA # 84.395), a new grant program authorized and funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA, P.L. 111-5). (The fund is referred to in the statute as the State Incentive Grant Fund.) The Race to the Top Fund provides $4.3 billion in competitive grants to encourage and reward states that are implementing significant education reforms.
