Summary
On September 20, 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the release of $101 million in Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) emergency contingency funds. With this release, HHS has allocated the entire $590 million appropriated for emergency funds in federal fiscal year (FY) 2010. These funds are in addition to the $4.5 billion in regular block grant funds.
