With the exception of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appropriations bill, work has been completed on fiscal year (FY) 2026 appropriations. Even so, there are a number of complexities surrounding appropriations that merit highlighting. This brief summarizes notable features of recent appropriations processes and their potential impact on states and on FFIS reporting.
