The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the second round of fiscal year (FY) 2024 funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). States received an initial release of $3.7 billion in November 2023, which included $100 million appropriated in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). With this round of $384 million, HHS has provided states with almost their entire allocation. The remaining 1% is being reserved for potential transfer to other programs (pursuant to the secretary’s authority).
