 Summary 

The first fiscal year (FY) 2024 appropriations package (P.L. 118-42) includes funding extensions for several mandatory programs within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). It also:

  • Delays Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) cuts
  • Extends select provisions of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (SUPPORT Act)
  • Includes changes to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

This Issue Brief summarizes the provisions, which are in Division G of the law.
