FY 2024 Enacted Budget: Environment

Final fiscal year (FY) 2024 appropriations for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were provided in Division E of a six-bill package enacted in March (P.L. 118-42).

This brief summarizes funding and other provisions in the bill, the accompanying explanatory statement, and the House and Senate reports it references.

Of note, this brief covers relevant funding in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). However, it excludes funding in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which appropriated funds on a one-time basis in FY 2022 for a host of new and existing programs and activities. Additional information on IRA funding, including a spreadsheet detailing appropriations, can be found here. Certain programs covered in this brief received funding for earmarked projects, as indicated in the tables throughout.
