June 3, 2020 - USDA Updates COVID-19 Resource Guide for Rural Communities
April 27, 2020 - Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Makes $3 Billion Available for Purchasing Food
The funds are available for the purchase and distribution of fresh produce and dairy and meat products for individuals facing challenges due to COVID-19. AMS will invite prospective food vendors (including governmental organizations) to submit responses to a Request for Proposals (RFP).
Beginning immediately through September 30, 2020, payments may be deferred for up to one year for borrowers that are unable to make payments of principal and interest due to COVID-19.
April 20, 2020 - USDA Office of Inspector General (OIG) Releases Plan for COVID-19 Spending Oversight
The extension for producers is part of the implementation of the CARES Act.
April 8, 2020 - USDA Publishes COVID-19 Resource Guide for Rural Communities
The guide provides rural entities (including state and local governments) with a matrix of resources that can be used to support response efforts to COVID-19. It contains government-wide information on technical assistance, financial assistance opportunities, and other general resources for affected communities.
March 31, 2020 - USDA Allows Payment Deferrals for a Host of Rural Services
USDA will temporarily allow lenders with guaranteed loans to unilaterally offer payment deferrals to their customers who may be experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This policy applies to the Business and Industry Loan Guarantees, Rural Energy for America Program Loan Guarantees, Community Facilities Loan Guarantees, and Water and Waste Loan Guarantees from March 31 to September 30.
